Dog Day Morning, Noon & Night

Well, today started at 6 a.m. With Savannah yacking on the floor of the bedroom. And then eating it at 6:01 a.m. And then having diarrhea at 6:05 a.m. right outside the bedroom. At least THAT was on the hardwood floors.

Yes, today has been a pleasure. After the abrupt awake, the hubs and I just decided to get on up. Since the hubs did not have to leave for work until 9 a.m., I decided to do onto Walmart at 7:30 a.m., so he could keep an eye on the dog (who we quarantined in the bathroom in case of more projectile poop). Walmart that early is great. I parked right by the door, no crowds, nothing picked over. Awesome.

Anyway, I got back home and called the vet who said to give the dogter a Pepto capsule and bring her in if it kept up. Savannah has a delicate stomach which is tricky with the diabetes because her blood sugar can be thrown off easily. Anyway, we gave her Pepto and fed her a little, then I went onto keep feeding her small amounts through the early afternoon. She was doing really well until 4 p.m. when I went to take the girls out. Then she started gimping. Badly favoring her left rear leg. Badly. Out of the blue. I called the vet and we cannot give her aspirin since her stomach has been iffy, so she is just listing around.

It has been a really REALLY ROUGH day, y'all. I told my mom that I was glad I didn't have children because I couldn't take this watching and worrying all the time. It is emotionally and mentally and physically draining. I just worry that with Savannah getting and being older, this may be a more and more common occurrence. And when something happens with that dog, I will have to have drugs. Big ones. We are both hopeless in love with her. She is our first ever dog. There will never be another like her.

Anyway, between checking on the dog every ten minutes, I managed to clean the house well and swap around my summer/winter clothes. Woot. We are getting ready to watch a movie so I guess I better wrap it up.

What I'm Cooking:
I made veggie pizza tonight with fresh dough from our grocery store. Honestly, though I just did not get excited about it because it has been such a shitty day. Worry has curbed my appetite.

What I'm Listening To:
I listened to Sirius, the Pulse, the 90's and now, today while doing chores. I actually went through my youth in the 80's but the 80's is a mixed bag [say, Huey Lewis :( vs. INXS :)] but the Pulse is my favorite station.

What I'm Reading:
Between last night and this morning, I read The Bright Forever by Lee Martin. It is a great, quick, compelling read about a small town and a young girl who goes missing. To say more would give too much away but it was a great book, the kind you have to keep reading until you finish. I honestly haven't read such a good book in a while. Highly recommend.

I hope tomorrow is better. No I pray. Pray for me and Savannah too.
